It is advised that visitors with advance tickets must arrive before 15-20 minutes. There are 2 entrence of Eiffel Tower - the east entrance and south entrance (this is where the first security checkpoint exists). Visitors without tickest have to pass by the cash registers on the square.
If you want to have an experience via elevator then one must pass the second security checkpoint, which may take a little extra time to wait.
